Today's Jogging Podcast:
HOTLINE: Hack your life with Travel Guru, Jo Franco by TBOY
Today was recorded as the hottest day this year in London, which is one of the reasons I went to the gym—thank goodness for air conditioning! I started listening to TBOY podcasts a few weeks ago. At first, I assumed the name was because the hosts are both guys, but it actually stands for "The Best One Yet," which is quite catchy. I enjoy the topics they discuss, the diverse perspectives they offer, and their humorous banter. I definitely wouldn't listen to it before bed, as it would keep me wide awake!
This podcast actually inspired me to start this blog. Today's episode was particularly interesting to me, featuring Jo Franco, a travel guru, Netflix host, and CEO of Fluentish. Her story really resonated with me.
The longest solo trip I ever took was about 10 years ago when I traveled through six European countries in a month. It was an unforgettable experience. I met many wonderful people who helped me along the way, some of whom became lifelong friends.
One quote that stood out to me from the podcast was, "There is no bad weather, only underdressing." The host mentioned that his father always says this, and I completely agree. I enjoy all kinds of weather when I travel—rain, snow, you name it. I always pack extra clothes to be prepared, ensuring that bad weather doesn't ruin my trip.
Tips for Solo Female Travelers:
Always be aware of your belongings. I carry my bag in front of me so I can keep an eye on it at all times.
I’m not a fan of hostels when travelling alone. While many people enjoy the social aspect, I often find it hard to sleep due to noise. That’s why I always bring earplugs and an eye mask. However, I still prefer a small single room over shared accommodations—a good night’s sleep is key to enjoying your travels.
Many people think solo travel is especially dangerous for women, but I believe it's possible to avoid risky situations. One reason I feel safe is that I often look impatient or in a bad mood, which tends to keep people at a distance—my friends have even said they were intimidated when they first met me!
The podcast also discussed the benefits of using credit cards for travel, highlighting how points can sometimes cover flight costs. I agree with the idea of exploring lesser-known destinations rather than the usual tourist spots—you might just have a better experience.
Lastly, I hope everyone has a wonderful time traveling. I'm already excited about my upcoming trip to Fuerteventura!
