This morning, I went to the gym, but I wasn’t really in the mood. I only ran for 10 minutes and spent a total of 30 minutes there. It reminded me of The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness, where the author mentions that the key to maintaining a habit is to start small. For example, going to the gym every day for just 2 minutes and gradually increasing the time can help you develop a genuine habit. I’ve found that the hardest part isn’t staying in the gym, but actually getting up and going out. Once I manage that, I feel like I’ve already completed half the task.
Today, I listened to many podcast episodes, but the one I want to discuss wasn’t actually from today. I started listening to this podcast and even downloaded the app, despite most of the content being focused on China. It still provided me with many useful insights. The guest mentioned that he had studied in the UK and used information gaps to sell second-hand cars from rural areas to big cities like London, earning a lot of money while in university. He emphasised that meeting people is more valuable than reading lots of books and that making the right choices is more important than hard work. He’s not afraid to try different things and can always find business opportunities through conversations.
I find it challenging to be like him, as most people are hesitant to take on business challenges by themselves. When I discuss business ideas with friends, they often point out the difficulties and mention that many others are doing the same thing, focusing on the negatives without ever having tried it themselves. It’s frustrating to see people judge something they’ve never even attempted. I may not have a sharp eye for spotting business opportunities, but I believe there’s always a way to make things work.
I enjoy sharing my experiences and listening to others’ stories. In another podcast, I heard a young university student who is already a successful entrepreneur say that you must start a business in an area you’re passionate about to make it successful. This idea aligns with what the guest mentioned: life is 90% about choices and only 10% about hard work.
