Today's Podcast:

Squiggly Careers: Coaching yourself

Today has been quite a productive day. I went bouldering with my friend, and afterward, we decided to take a walk. During our walk, my friend shared a business idea she had about making handmade accessories. We went to Brick Lane to see what others were selling and at what prices. Later, we headed to her home, where she had a handmade bracelet kit. We found it quite fun to make bracelets for each other and started discussing how to turn this idea into a real business. I’m so happy that someone is finally taking a business seriously, and we’ve actually started to split tasks and take action.

In addition to this, I mentioned my blog, and I shared an idea I had about interviewing successful Chinese entrepreneurs in London. Coincidentally, she had the same idea! We immediately started brainstorming the theme of the podcast, who we would interview, and even set up a podcast platform. I’ve already designed the logo. Everything just came together in one day. We’re not just dreaming; we’re taking action. I’m thrilled to have someone with the same ambitions as me, and doing something I’m passionate about is so fulfilling. It makes me want to explore, learn, and do more. We plan to launch the podcast in the second week of September, and I’ll also create a separate page for the podcast scripts.

Recently, I’ve been listening to several career-focused podcasts. This particular one covers skill topics in 7 minutes per episode, and I found this topic on coaching yourself quite interesting. When I start job hunting, I often feel anxious and seek advice from others. However, I haven’t really taken the time to learn more about myself first. That’s what coaching yourself is all about. The host mentioned doing a 3-minute mind map every day, which is an easy habit to maintain. There’s nothing wrong with asking others for help, but you should first understand your true self and your true needs. It’s also about self-awareness—knowing your personality and what you’re good at.

The whole purpose of starting this blog is to truly understand myself. By listening to others, I reflect on my own experiences and gain a deeper understanding of who I am. It helps me stay calm in this fast-paced environment, despite the stress of my job and financial situation. I hope my reflections can also inspire others as well.
