My Travel Summary:

I initially thought it was bold to go somewhere without planning in advance, but that’s the essence of traveling—following our hearts and starting an adventure, figuring things out as we go. While on the train, we opened the map, searched for all the possible destinations, and ultimately chose Hastings. Here’s why: it’s small enough for a day trip, has a sea beach—a must during summer in the UK (though we didn’t expect it to be so windy)—beautiful views, and charming shops. I agree that nature is wonderful, but it’s also nice to have a touch of humanity, and for us girls, a bit of shopping action.

I’ve listed some basic information and the shops we visited to provide tips for anyone planning to travel there.

Our Travel Route:

  1. George Street
    ★★★★★ Highly Recommended
    Highlights: Souvenirs, vintage shops, dining
George Street is filled with charming, beautifully decorated shops that are definitely worth exploring. I particularly enjoyed browsing through the vintage stores and found some unique souvenirs. I also bought sparkling wine-flavored milk chocolate, which was quite cool, and had a delicious pasta meal here.

  2. The West Hill Lift
    £5.50 for adults
This lift takes you up and down the hill at a slow pace, offering a unique and interesting experience that you rarely find elsewhere. It’s a fun and cool way to reach the top of the hill, where more adventure awaits.

  3. West Hill
    Definitely worth a visit!
From West Hill, you can see the entire town from a high vantage point. The view is simply breathtaking—words can’t do it justice.

  4. Hastings Beach
If you’re expecting soft sand, this isn’t the place. However, I love the sound of stepping on the stones along the beach. You can enjoy activities like crazy golf and various sports such as basketball and volleyball. There are also many shops selling ice cream, though it was quite chilly today, so I didn’t try any.
