Blog Time!

I’m so proud of myself—I bought a real Christmas tree for just £13 from the home centre and carried it all the way back home on my own! It’s about 150cm tall, and although I bought lights for it, I realised they’re too short for such a large tree. Honestly, I didn’t expect to have a Christmas tree this year. I figured it would be too much hassle since I’m not staying here for long and didn’t want the trouble of getting rid of it later. But now that I have it, I realise there’s even more work to do—organising the branches, buying extra decorations, and figuring out where to put it. Our living room isn’t very big, so I had to move the dining table to the middle just to make space. It feels like a lot of effort, but I’m still excited about it!

On another note, I finally had a job interview yesterday, but it left me with mixed feelings. The more I learned about the company, the less I liked it. It seems that only men occupy executive positions there, and a salesperson interviewed me for a marketing role. No offense, but when I looked up his profile, it was clear that his experience was entirely sales-focused—he was a BD manager before taking on his current role as CCO. It just didn’t sit right with me. I’ve already experienced working under a salesperson in my current job, and it hasn’t been great. Instead of engaging in real marketing activities, I keep getting pushed into a sales role, which I’m not interested in.

During the interview, it became obvious that we have different priorities. He emphasised email campaigns and webinars, while I believe the focus should be on owned media like social media and podcasts. It’s frustrating to see so much content created without proper recognition—it feels like such a waste. But honestly, I don’t feel bad about potentially missing out on this role. I’ve promised myself that my next company will be one where I feel comfortable and aligned with their vision. I’m not in a rush, but I know I need to avoid taking things too slowly. With the New Year approaching, I definitely need a plan!

I am going to find something to eat before I starve to death. The food delivery I ordered one hour ago, is still on the way....
