My Travel Summary:
St Albans is next on our adventure list. I chose it this time instead of a beachside destination since the weather isn’t ideal for the coast. I was pleasantly surprised by how close it is to London. This charming town offers beautiful nature and cultural sites to explore, along with lovely cafés and shops. For the first time, I found myself thinking that this is a place I’d love to stay.
Our Travel Route:
🥐 The Pudding Stop
Cost: £7.50 for a café latte and pastry
Highlights: Cozy café with delicious pastries
This popular café is tucked away slightly off the high street. Many people come specifically for a particular pastry, which was so popular that some had to wait for it! I opted for the Saturday special pastry, and it was delightful.
Saturday Market
A large market stretching down the entire street, offering everything from fresh produce, street food, handmade accessories, pastries, and vintage items. It was bustling with people, and I even picked up a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers for just £5-10! I also bought some fruits and veggies.St Albans Cathedral
Entry: Free (donations welcome)This grand cathedral reminded me of Ely Cathedral. The interior is beautifully decorated, with a gift shop and café inside. On Saturday, they hosted the last day of the St Albans Movie Festival, complete with evening fireworks, though we didn’t stay that long.
🥪Toast
Highlights: Delicious brunch with a 4.8/5 rating on Google MapsThis brunch spot, aptly named Toast, specializes in toast with a variety of toppings. We had a short wait to get a table, but it was worth it—the food was delicious.
St Albans Museum & Gallary(Highly recommended)
Highlights: Free entry, great for exploring the city's history
This museum is a must-visit for understanding the history of St Albans. They also have intriguing art displays. The building’s former council chambers are now used as a café, where you can enjoy a coffee while sitting in the defendant's seat! A small door also leads to the basement, where temporary prisoners would wait before court appearances.
